Scarborough RUFC opened their Yorkshire One account with a 20-17 home derby win against York.
Scarborough were shocked when the visitors scored within a minute of the start of the derby.
However the Seasiders struck back with tries from second row James Leach and scrum-half Jordan Wakeham, centre Graeme Hogg adding seven points with his boot to lead 17-5 midway through the first half.
The men from Silver Royd temporarily lost the services of centre Loni Loni yellow carded on the half hour and the visitors took advantage to cut the deficit to seven points on the stroke of half-time.
A thunderous second half saw Hogg stretch the home lead to 20-10 with a penalty but a further York touchdown ensured a nail-biting finish for the Scarborough faithful. However the home side battled it out for a narrow but deserved 20-17 win.
