Claire Wilkinson and Mel Halstead grabbed tries as Scarborough RUFC Valkyries beat Harrogate 18-14 at Silver Royd on Sunday.
The Valkyries started the game brightly and dominated the first half with good forward play and strong set-pieces.
Good pressure from a kick and chase led to an early penalty conversion.
Following that, a couple of breaks gave the Valkyries a try in the first half from number eight Wilkinson, seeing them go into half-time 10-0 up.
The Valkyries played into a strong wind during the second half and spent most of the it on the back foot.
However, with good defence they were able to hold out Harrogate for a long period of time.
Unfortunately with a few penalties conceded, Harrogate were able to score.
The Valkyries were never in any danger and with strong teamwork were able to create a number of breaks, providing an opportunity for Halstead to score late in the second half.
Harrogate scored a late consolation try just before the final whistle but the Valkyries ran out deserved winners.
