NAWTON Grange 2nds kept their title hopes on track with a seven-wicket success at home to third-from-bottom Muston 2nds.

John Precious carried his bat for a defiant 57 as Muston were dismissed for 103. The home side’s three-pronged bowling attack of Jimmy Dunn, George Bentley and Jack Hugill prove too much for the visitors to handle. Dunn led the way with 4-24, while Hugill scooped 3-20 and Bentley 3-27 for Grange.

The experienced Ian Ward then laid the foundations for the successful run-chase with a top knock of 52.

Filey 2nds are another side to look out out for in the battle for promotion, Dave Brannan Jnr hitting 100 as his side cruised to a 213-run win at Forge Valley 4ths.

Solid support from Rich Burrell, 44, and Tom Watson, 31, helped Filey post 263-9, Martin Atkinson scooping 4-72 for the Valley fourth string.

Despite a battling 35 not out from Peter Lee, Valley then subsided to 50 all out in the face of top bowling from Lee Plant, 3-8.

Leaders Wold Newton 2nds strolled to a 10-wicket win at home to Thornton Dale 3rds.

Opener James Baker’s unbeaten 40 helped Wold Newton surpass the meagre Dale total of 63 all out.

Thornton Dale 2nds had more luck than their third team, easing to an eight-wicket win at Ganton 2nds.

Paul Waring took 4-17 and John Ellis snapped up 3-21 as the hosts slipped to 65 all out, with Sam Asquith’s unbeaten 25 sealing the win for Dale.
