A record total of 30 club members competed in and joined 508 finishers at the Walkington 10 kilometre road race, an increase of 10 last year.

Twenty-two ran their best times for the distance this year.
The first three men for the club were Ryan Mancrief in 10th, Matt Middleton (34th) and Glynn Hewitt (43rd).
The club’s leading women were headed by Sue Haslam who was third overall and first over-60, Beckie May (11th and second female 45), and Guilia Wilkins (28th).
There was a most remarkable result in the men’s over-65 division with the club fielding the first four and 10 of the 17 finishers.
Results: Neil Scruton 1st, Dave Fox 2nd, Ralph Broadley 3rd, Mally Sweetlove 4th.
Harry Forkin who moves up to the over-70s next month was 10th.

Eight club members competed in the annual Castle Howard Trail Races which are held on testing courses mostly in the estate of the famous country house.
Over what was a course that was nearer 11 kilometres and on a very hot afternoon, Chris Allen was 38th overall finisher of 291.
He was followed by Mark Foster (45th), Rod Millard (69th) and Tony Rawling (119th).
Emma Foster led the club’s four females in 42nd. Jeanette Richards was 90th, Sophie Vaughan 93rd and Joanne Miller made a club debut in 98th

Katy Stringer made a very successful event debut when finishing second overall of 105 and first female of 57.
Juliette Pilgrim was next in 23rd, and ahead of Jill Grinstead, who was 28th and first over-55 with a personal best time. Joanne Elwick was 35th and second over-55 and also ran a PB time.
Sharon Parson was 44th and also ran a best time.
Five club members competed in the latest Sewerby Parkrun.
They were led by Warren Foster who was 11th of 89 male finishers.
Anna Martin made a very good debut for the club when finishing third female of 81.
Lesley Bayes was 13th and first over-65, Emma Foster 18th and Sophie Vaughan 31st.
Nev Watson competed in the Normandy Hall Duathlon which was held at the country park near Scunthorpe.
After taking an early lead at the end of the opening 5k run, he had to settle for third after transition to the bike phase.
However, he regained the lead and had a good gap before the start of the final 2.5k stage and won by 75 seconds.
