Cycling stars Bob Hewitt and Cavan Walker have been in top form in various events over the past week or so.

Daryl Maffey and Carl Martin (YH Training Scarborough Road Club) were first up at Middlesbrough Sports Village in the PTR/Speedflex Summer Series, riding in the ¾ race.

Unfortunately, Martin crashed, but Maffey finished strongly just outside the top 10.

Hewitt (YH Training SRC) began another successful week of racing in the E/1/2 race.

Hewitt was in a two-man break from early in the race but was unfortunate in not taking the win, staying away for 25 laps, the YHT rider coming home second.

He completed the week with a strong top 10 finish in the Craig Armitage Memorial Road Race at Selby.

Walker (Acre RT) rode the City Hull Open Time Trial on the V718 course.

Despite a strong headwind and setting off last, Walker completed the course just outside his personal best in a time of 20:16, finishing 12th out of a field of 80.

Walker then switched disciplines to compete in the British Cycling National MTB XC Championships on the Commonwealth Games course at Cathkin Braes near Glasgow.

Gridded last, Walker worked his way through the field to finish in a creditable 21st place.

Walker returns to the venue in two weeks time to represent Yorkshire, alongside fellow EBOR Academy student Megan Simpson in the Inter-Regional Championships.
