On an otherwise low-scoring day in the Derwent Valley League, Richard Horsman and Pete Bray smashed centuries in the game between Ganton 2nds and Muston 2nds.

Horsman smashed 102 as Ganton 2nds posted an imposing 253-6 in the Division B clash against Muston 2nds, Dan Reardon’s 50 and 32 from Mark Lockwood offering support.

Snainton maintained their charge for promotion with a nail-biting three-run win against Cayton 3rds.

Michael Eyre smashed 78 not out and he was supported by Paul Nicholson, 33, and skipper Matt Davies, 31 not out, as Snainton posted 177-3 in the face of Chris Pearson’s spell of 3-46.

Cayton edged towards Snainton’s total as Will Wood weighed in with 73 and Shakil Iqbal added 41, but 15-year-old Josh Stockill took crucial wickets in his spell of 5-26 and Leigh Watson took 3-68 as Cayton fell agonisingly short on 174 all out.

Valley Bar Nomads suffered defeat at home to Wykeham 3rds.

John Nelson was in form as Ravenscar 2nds grabbed their second win of the season against Thornton Dale 2nds.

Dale were all out for just 51 as Nelson took 5-6 and veteran Jon Stokoe 4-15.

Newton ended their innings on 103-8, Phil Hesslehurst making 41 not out as Rory Talling took 4-16 and George Bentley 3-23.

Neil Ward retired on 35 and Adam Durrant made 29 as Grange eased to 105-1.

Hospitals/Rugby Club continued to move away from the relegation mix-up as they hammered Filey 2nds.

It looked like Filey were well on top at tea as only Ian Williams troubled the scorers with 33 as they were all out for 57, Dan Kaye taking 3-12.

But it was far fromn over as Filey were all out for just 33 in the face of superb bowling from Mark Kelly, 5-15, and Tim Elliot, 4-14.

Brian Garbutt was in fine form with the ball as Sherburn 2nds beat Lockton by just nine runs.

Lockton dismissed Sherburn for just 82 as Andrew Sellers took 3-2 and he was supported by 3-33 from both John Lay and Keith Eddon.

But it proved to be enough for Sherburn as Garbutt grabbed 5-6 and Ashley Oldroyd 5-36 as Lockton were dismissed for just 73.
