BBC Sports Personality of the Year contender and rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield was in fine form as he helped Yorkshire Carnegie to a convincing 56-7 win against London Scottish at Scarborough RUFC on Sunday.

The former Leeds Rhinos hero kicked five conversions and three penalties in the comfortable victory, and he was left impressed by the club’s Silver Royd HQ.

Sinfield said: “It was great to be at Scarborough. I had never been to Silver Royd before.

“The set-up was fantastic and everyone was so welcoming.

“Considering the amount of rain and bad weather we have had in recent weeks, the pitch was in really good shape and that made a great day all round.”
