The Open dreams of local pair Elliot Burdett and David Hague were ended for another year on Monday.

Ganton’s Burdett and Malton & Norton’s Hague had their sights firmly set on progression from the competition’s regional qualifiers.
But a blustery afternoon at Northumberland Golf Club in Gosforth Park put paid to their hopes.
Hague finished his 18-hole shootout tied for 27th after posting a five over-par 77, while Burdett was tied for 43rd a further four shots back.
The final result may have not been ideal for 27-year-old Burdett, but the Ganton pro was still happy with his performance.
He said: “I didn’t play badly at all, it was just down to a couple of bits of bad luck and the fact that the wind picked up after lunch.
“I didn’t get off to the best of starts, which wasn’t ideal, and the wind on the back nine made it very difficult to pick up any shots.
“It was a great experience though, if I hadn’t have gone then I would have been sitting at home regretting it.
“I do like the track up there, it is possible to get a good score, which is something I’ll be aiming to do in the future.”
